"GREAT ART PICKS UP WHERE NATURE ENDS"
Marc Chagall
Picture
As an artist I explore the compelling contrasts between form, essence and abstraction.  I thrive on experimenting with different and unconventional materials.  To me failure is not in my vocabulary, it only pushes my creative juices to explore new and unlimited possibilities that may lead to something extraordinary.

Pods - cane & reed woven stones, half coconut shell's, Mylar
"Pods" is a fiber and stone sculpture.  The egg shape is representative of all living things.  Both cane and reed completely encompass the stones demonstrating how life is all intertwined.  There are seven pods that represent the seven continents.  The eggs rest in half coconuts shells acting as the land masses.  Mylar was used to symbolize the oceans/water.
PictureExtinct -ostrich shards, hot glue, acrylic paint & black Plexiglas
"Extinct" this piece speaks to the five animal kingdoms and how the planet is losing over ten thousand species each year due to climate change.  The five vessels are made of shards of ostrich eggs.  The egg is symbolic of all living things and in the case the broken shards represents the extent species within each of the five kingdoms.

woven stones - cane, reed & natural botanicals
I create intricate weavings that are created by using tension thus eliminating any need for adhesive materials.   My art is elementary in the sense that I use common objects such as rocks and botanicals.  I hope that my art envelopes the thought to lesson one’s ecological footprint.

Taking in consideration of form I like to explore mixing different materials.

Nesting- copper wire, fiber, knotless netting
My piece titled “Nesting” I wanted convey a place of solace and comfort but still with the possibility of fragility.  The process in making this piece involves pattern and repetition.  I am intrigued with how this repetitive labor takes me into this transformational sense and meditative well-being.
